At a Special Governing Board meeting on Friday, January 30, 2026, the Governing Board unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Jared Ryan as the next Superintendent of Gilbert Public Schools, beginning in the 2026/27 school year.

GPS junior highs and middle schools welcomed sixth-grade students to their campuses for a preview of the next step in their learning adventure. Through an initiative called Level Up, incoming students and families explored the academics, routines, and programs that make each campus a unique option for the next school year.

On January 22, 2026, students from across GPStook center stage during the District Spelling Bee. After advancing through classroom and school-level competitions, students earned a spot at the district event, where they competed through multiple rounds to determine the district’s top spellers.
