Patricia Shores, Assistant Principal

Ms. Patricia J. Shores has been working professionally in public for 18 years and amassed experience in special education, general education, gifted education, instructional leadership, and school administration. As a graduate from NAU, majoring in Secondary English education, Ms. Shores started teaching in 2007 at Carson Junior High in Mesa, Arizona. Since, she has continued to expand her education, earning a MS in Special Education from GCU, an MS in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University, and an Ed.S in Instructional Leadership from North Central University.

She has taught all contents offered at the secondary level for English, including English 9-12, AP Literature, Special Education Resource and Co-Taught, as well as served as an assistant principal for 5 years and instructional coach for 2 years. Ms. Shores has contributed to the on-going learning at her campus' by teaching professional developments on Kagan Cooperative Learning, Student Engagement, Professional Learning Communities, Literacy Skills, Developing Student Conversations on Complex Text, Innovative Grading Practices, Creating a Culture of Learning, and many others.

Ms. Shores is looking forward to being a Sabercat and learning the "South Valley Way" as well as bringing instructional knowledge to the South Valley campus in order to bolster innovative instructional practices in classrooms that will help students reach greater levels of success.

Outside of her professional life, Ms. Shores has been married to a Mesa Police Officer for 17 years, and has two sons, TJ, who attends Mesquite High School and Jameson, who attends Gilbert Elementary School. She's a full blown Disney adult who loves unicorns, anything pink, running, and thrift shopping.
